Geo-processing Model on Coastal Vulnerability Index to Explore Risk Zone along the South West Coast of Tamil Nadu, India

چکیده
The Geoprocessing model on Coastal vulnerability index algorithm has been developed by integrating multiple geo-spatial parameters to identify the vulnerable zone along the South west coast of Tamil Nadu. Present study is to design the automatic executable geoprocessing model that can support to analysis the datasets such as geomorphology, coastal erosion and accretion, coastal slope, relative sea-level rise, mean wave height, and mean tide range. Architecture of this model comprises that three elements such as input variables, execution tools and connectors is based on relative weightage of parameters which are depending on the potential magnitude of individual factors related to coastal vulnerability. A successful completion of the model could facilitate to run the functions such as raster conversion, extraction by mask, join and relation of database and layer, reclassification and CVI algebra. It is observed that CVI value along the coastal area is from 3.46 to 27.38 and the highest values 27.38. and 21.23 are recorded in the eroded coast of Mandakad, Kovalam and Cape Comorin. This model can facilitate as an expert system for coastal hazard management.

Geomorphology, clay mineral composition, and radiocarbon dates from Muttukadu to Marakkanam estuaries and the tidal zone along the east coast of Tamil Nadu, India, have been used to reconstruct coastal evolution between approximately 4500 and 1100 BP. Formation of alternate oyster beds with intervening tidal clay units indicate fluctuation in the sea level may be a consequence of changes in the...
